A Day at Camp

Camp Nesher follows a daily schedule six days a week with changes made for Shabbat beginning on Friday afternoon. When viewing the sample schedule below, please note that times and activities differ based on age and division.

7:25am: Wake-Up and Mifkad

Time to get up and start our day! Mifkad (line-up) at the flagpole includes the raising of both the American and Israeli flags followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of Hatikvah.

8:00am: Tefilat Shacharit

Younger campers participate in an age-appropriate tefilah while older eidot (divisions) daven together in the Beit Knesset.

8:50am – Breakfast

Weekday Breakfast is served cafeteria-style (except for Shabbat) and depending on the day of the week, includes hot items such as scrambled eggs, waffles, french-toast sticks and more. Additionally, the following items are served daily:

  • Cereals (cold and hot)
  • Yogurt and Granola
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Mini-Bagels and Cream Cheese
  • Hard-Boiled Eggs
9:25am: Nikayon (Clean-up)

Campers return to their bunks for clean-up and to change for morning activities

10:00am – 12:30pm: Activity Periods

Activities that include intramural leagues, choice-based electives, chinuch, aquatics and individual sports are scheduled.

12:40pm: Lunch

mealsWeekday lunches include a salad bar and, except for Shabbat, are served cafeteria-style. Sample menu items include:

  • Pizza
  • Mac n’ Cheese
  • Fish Sticks
  • Baked Ziti
  • Grilled Cheese
  • Penne a la Vodka
  • Cheese Quesadillas
1:15pm: Wildcard

Camp Nesher’s Wildcard period can include play or choir practice, free time on the courts, hanging out in the bunk… and hopefully time for a quick letter home!

2:00pm – 6:30pm: Activity Periods and Canteen

Activities that include intramural leagues, choice-based electives, chinuch, aquatics and individual sports are scheduled.

During Canteen time, enjoy a snack while reading your emails or snail mail received that day

 

6:30pm: Dinner

Weeknight dinners include a salad bar and, except for Shabbat, are served cafeteria-style. Some sample menu items include:

  • BBQ with Hamburgers and Hot Dogs
  • Baked Chicken
  • Tacos
  • Chicken Fingers
  • Chicken Lo-Mein
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs
Post-Dinner: Tefilat Mincha, Night Activity, Tefilat Maariv and Night Snack (Various times – depending on eidah)

Pool Parties, campfires, or campers vs. counselors Capture the Flag are just a few of the amazing night activities that can happen on any given night at camp.

9:15pm – 11:00pm: Shower-Time and Lights Out (various times depending on eidah)
